At least four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on a house in the southern Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The deceased and several others wounded in the attack were taken to Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp.

Moreover, one Palestinian was killed and another injured when an Israeli strike hit a house in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera correspondents also reported three casualties as Israel’s occupation army operated in central Deir Al-Balah.

The continued Israeli assault has pushed Palestinians into just 11 percent of the Gaza Strip, according to Al Jazeera.

The network also reported that a Palestinian journalist covering the expanding ground invasion of Khan Younis in southern Gaza was wounded when Israeli soldiers shot her in the back.

Another Israeli strike hit the Abu Awda family home in Abasan Al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties, Al Jazeera reported, citing the Palestinian Information Centre.

In southern Gaza, a medical source told AFP that three people were killed in Abasan village, and witnesses reported Israeli airstrikes near the Islamic University in Khan Younis.

A funeral was held in Khan Younis for Gazan photojournalist Ibrahim Muhareb, who was killed on Sunday, an AFP correspondent said. He was laid to rest with his "PRESS" vest placed over his body.

An Al Jazeera correspondent reported that an Israeli helicopter landed west of Rafah to evacuate wounded soldiers, amid artillery shelling and airstrikes.

On Monday, at least 13 Palestinians were killed since morning, according to Al Jazeera.

Meanwhile, WAFA reported that 40 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours as Israel announced carrying out strikes on 45 sites during the same period.

Israel’s assault on Gaza has so far killed at least 40,139 Palestinians and wounded more than 92,743 others, mostly women and children, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

"This figure, 40,000, includes only those bodies that have been recovered and buried," Marwan Al-Hams, director of field hospitals at the Palestinian health ministry, told The Guardian.

"New procedures are being developed to include those who are missing or trapped beneath the rubble in the official death toll, but these have not yet been implemented," he added.
