Ahly winger Tau named in South Africa’s preliminary squad for AFCON qualifiers

South Africa coach Hugo Broos has named Ahly winger Percy Tau in the preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Bafana Bafana will host Uganda on 6 September before taking on South Sudan away from home on 10 September. 

Last season, Tau, 30, made 33 appearances with Ahly, scoring nine goals across all competitions.

He struggled with injuries, missing several games for the Cairo giants.

 

 

Speculations about Tau's future with Ahly continue, with reports linking him to Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.

Tau has enjoyed a successful stint at Ahly, winning two Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups, three Egyptian Super Cups, and two CAF Champions League titles.
