Police investigations indicated that a speeding trailer collided with multiple vehicles travelling on the Fayoum-Cairo road, causing the fatal crash.
First responders and nine ambulances arrived to help the injured and transported the victims to Fayoum General Hospital.
The road was cleared of wreckage, and traffic returned to normal.
The trailer driver has been detained and will undergo a drug test.
Moreover, the Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation into the incident.
Egypt recorded 5,861 road accident fatalities in 2023, a decrease from 7,762 in 2022.
However, the number of injuries rose to 71,016 from 55,991 during the same period, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Recently, the government has launched a plan to expand and upgrade Egypt's road network and enhance road safety measures to reduce accidents.
