Anoushka - music

Anoushka is an award-winning Egyptian-Armenian singer who rose to fame in the 1990s.

She released several albums, including Habbaytak (1988), Nadami (1989), Tigi Nghanni (1990), Abbayan Zayn (1992), Kaddab (1994), and Nefsy Akoon (2001).

She will be accompanied by conductor George Kolta.

Tamer Ashour - music

Singer and composer Tamer Ashour came into the spotlight in the mid-2000s. 

Ever since, he has released 7 albums, establishing himself as one of the most popular performers in Egypt and the Arab world.

His breakthrough as a singer came with the release of his debut single Zekrayat Kadaba (Lying Memories) in 2006. 

The song's success led Ashour to work on his first album Saab (Difficult), released in 2007. This was followed with consecutive albums: Had Byheb (2008), Laya Nazra (2011), Esht Maak (2014), Khayali (2017), Ayam (2019), and Tegy Netrahen (2022). 

On 21 August, Ashour released his latest single, Wadaa Wadaa (Farewell Farewell).

Saad El-Oud - music

Saad El-Oud plays songs representing authentic Egyptian heritage while interacting with the audience.

Tablet El Sitt - music

The troupe consists of women percussionists.

Founded by folk music enthusiast Soha Mohamed in 2019, the group is bringing Egypt’s musical heritage to the stage.

Wegz - music
Friday 30 August, 10pm
U Arena, New Alamein, North Coast

The 1998-born rapper has gained huge popularity, releasing many successful video clips of his rapping in arrangements that mix Western hip-hop with Egyptian Mahraganat sounds.

The success of the 2019 summer hit Bazeet, produced by DJ Totti, gave Wegz a big boost into the mainstream. 

His single 2020 Dorak Gai (co-created with Molotof) has additionally catapulted him to fame.

Ever since Wegz has secured a place among the most-listened-to musicians on Spotify.

Andromida - music

One of the oldest active rock bands in Egypt, Andromida was formed by Amr Hassan and Ihab Al Qalie (keyboard and vocals).

The band also includes Amr Hassan (piano), Sherif El-Sharqawi (drums and vocals), and Ahmed Anwar (bass and vocals).

Founded in Alexandria in 1987, the band is widely known for performing Pink Floyd’s most well-known songs.

Mohamed Helmy - standup comedy

Starting his stand-up comedy career in 2016 firstly in Alexandria, Mohamed Helmy expanded to performing in North America last July.

In 2018, he founded his own company HelmyMan Events through which he organizes stand-up comedy gigs and provides a creative and empowering platform for stand-up comedians.

Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre (CIFET)

Across Cairo theatres

The 31st edition of the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre (CIFET) kicks off, showcasing local, regional, and international plays across Cairo theatres.

CIFET’s official competition will showcase plays from Arab countries, including Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine, and Jordan.

The international troupes represent returning countries, such as Spain, Romania, Germany, Hungary, India, and Greece.

Notable contenders this year are troupes from Oman and South Africa, returning to the festival after a long absence. 

Additionally, a play from Ecuador will mark the first-ever performance from the country to be staged in CIFET.
