Egypt, ranked first in Africa and 39th globally, received a soft power score of 44.9 points.
South Africa secured the second place after Egypt, earning 43.7 points, while Morocco was ranked third in Africa with 40.6 points.
Meanwhile, the United States topped the rankings with a record-high Global Soft Power Index score of 78.8 points, up from 74.8 in 2023.
The soft power score is based on eight main pillars: Business and trade, international relations, education and science, culture and heritage, governance, media and communication, sustainable future, and people and values.
The list is issued by Brand Finance, a leading independent brand valuation and strategy consultancy.
The soft power index, now in its fifth edition in 2024, evaluates the perceptions of all 193 United Nations member states.
Soft power is a key method by which countries extend their influence.
Rather than resorting to force, they use diplomacy, media, culture and education, to achieve this. This strategy enables them to cultivate goodwill and enhance their global reputation.
