Al-Azhar issued a stern warning to the world against the Zionist Judaizing plan being implemented in the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank, calling for international action to halt the aggression.
“This plan aims to seize land, Judaize the region's landmarks, and commit genocide against Palestinian residents,” Al-Azhar said in its statement.
The statement also highlighted the increasing ferocity of Israel facilitated by unprecedented complicity and global inaction, as the world remains preoccupied with the daily massacres in Gaza.
Moreover, Al-Azhar warned against the severe repercussions of this aggression on regional security and stability.
The institution called on the global community and all active parties to fulfil their responsibilities in response to the brutal massacres committed by the "Zionist killing machine" against the people of Gaza and the looming threats in the West Bank.
Furthermore, it emphasized the urgency of unifying all efforts to stop Zionist plans to take lives, steal land, and distort history, "as if nothing is sacred and the law of the jungle rules the world."
Al-Azhar also urged the Islamic world to utilize all available resources — political, diplomatic, and popular — and renew and intensify the boycott of Zionist products.
“This is essential to protect Palestinian lives, safeguard Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, and defend against the aggression on our brothers in Palestine,” Al-Azhar clarified.
“This enemy was planted in our lands not to coexist in peace,” as they claim, but “to devour the Arab body, one part at a time, as history and reality demonstrate,” it affirmed.
Since Wednesday, the Israeli army has targeted four cities in the West Bank, Jenin, Nablus, Tubas, and Tulkarem, launching a major new assault adding to its 10-month-old war on Gaza.
The assault, which involved airstrikes, ground forces, and bulldozers, has killed at least 10 Palestinians and wounded 15 others.
The latest operation came two days after Israel declared carrying out an airstrike on the West Bank that killed five people.
Violence has surged in the West Bank alongside the Gaza war, with more than 640 Palestinians killed by Israeli troops and settlers since 7 October, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Israel has detained over 10,000 Palestinians from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the beginning of its war on Gaza, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS).
