Sudan beat Niger in Nations Cup qualifiers opener as Ethiopia, Comoros, Libya held

Sudan opened their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-0 win over Niger at Juba National Stadium on Wednesday, thanks to striker Abo Eisa who scored the winner in the 51 st minute.

Sudan feature in Group F alongside Ghana and Angola who will face off on Thursday.

In Group A Comoros were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Gambia.

Midfielder Youssouf M'Changama opened the scoring for Comoros in the 37 th minute but Forward Musa Barrow leveled the score just before the break.

On the other hand, Libya were also held to a 1-1 draw by Rwanda in Group D opener on Wednesday.

Youth striker Sobhi Al Dawi scored for the hosts in the 16 th minute while Innocent Nshuti netted the equalizer for Rwanda two minutes after the pause.

In Group H Ethiopia secured an away goalless draw against Tanzania as both sides shared a point.

The first two teams in the 12 Groups will advance to the next year’s Africa Cup of Nations set to be played in Morocco.
