Hamdi was part of the Egypt U-23 team that finished fourth in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
During the Olympics, Hamdi, who can play as a left-back as well as a winger, made three appearances.
The 21-year-old has also made one appearance with the Pharaohs under the guidance of former coach Rui Vitoria.
The Cairo giants are looking to fill the void on the left flank as veteran fullback Mohamed Abdel-Shafi is out of action due to a serious knee injury, while international fullback Ahmed Fatouh is facing trial after being involved in a deadly car accident.
Zamalek have already signed Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg on loan from French side Saint-Etienne, with an option to buy, last month.
Hamdi becomes Zamalek’s third new signing following Bentayg and Palestinian striker Omar Faraj, who signed a four-year contract with the club earlier this month.
Zamalek is linked with several players, such as Gabonese striker Aaron Boupendza and Polish winger Konrad Michalak.
The White Knights will start their season on Saturday when they visit Kenyan side Police, as the Cairo giants are set to defend their Confederation Cup title.
The three new signings will not be eligible to play against Police, but they will be eligible to play against Ahly in the CAF Super Cup on Friday 27 September.
