The Liverpool ace, who started his international career against Sierra Leone in September 2011, scored Egypt's third goal in the 56th minute on his milestone day to take his goal tally with the Pharaohs to 56 goals.

Winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan found the net twice in the 4th and 29th minutes, while substitute Mostafa Fathy added a fourth goal in injury time.

This win helped Egypt, who had previously defeated Cape Verde in the group opener on Friday, to maintain their position at the top of the group with a maximum six points, three points clear of Mauritania, who will face Cape Verde later on Tuesday.

Salah came close to opening the scoring, with his initial attempt saved by Botswana keeper Goitseone Phoko, but Trezeguet capitalized on the follow-up, scoring easily into an empty net.

Despite Egypt's control of the game, they struggled to create significant scoring opportunities.

Salah had another chance to extend the lead in the first half, but his shot was once again denied by the keeper.

Trezeguet doubled the lead just before the hour mark, seizing upon a superb lobbed pass from defender Rami Rabia to beat the keeper from close range.

In the second half, the hosts intensified their efforts and gained possession, but it was Salah's turn to shine as he added the third goal.

He converted Mohamed Hamdi's precise cross into an empty net after the keeper failed to intercept the delivery.

Despite numerous opportunities, the hosts failed to convert due to poor finishing.

Substitutes Ibrahim Adel and Mostafa Fathy also made significant contributions, with Fathy connecting with Adel's cross to net the fourth goal and seal the victory.
