Egypt banks to take Sunday off for Moulid El-Nabi: CBE

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced Wednesday that banks will take Sunday, 15 September, off for the celebration of Moulid El-Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday).

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly designated Sunday, 15 September, as an official paid holiday for the public sector employees.

Muslims across Egypt and the Islamic world celebrate the day of Prophet Muhammad's birth on 12 Rabi Al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
