Speaking at the press conference, Abdelmonem expressed his excitement about joining the Ligue 1 side, outlining his ambitions and reflecting on his decision to join Nice over other European clubs.
"I received several offers from Europe, but I chose Nice because the coach reached out to me and expressed his admiration for my abilities," Abdelmonem told the press.
"My ambition is to compete for any championship I participate in, whether it's the league or the Europa League," he said.
The 25-year-old, who had been a standout performer for Ahly and the Egyptian national team, admitted that his transition to European football was delayed due to financial negotiations with his former club.
"My move from Egypt to Europe came after I had confidence in my abilities and my potential to play in the major leagues," he added.
"Being the first Egyptian player to play for Nice gives me extra motivation to deliver my best performance and make Egyptian football proud," he added.
"I’ve started learning French. The language is a bit challenging, but I’m excited to study it and integrate with the team," he said.
The defender, who has already made his debut for Nice in a 4-1 win, is looking forward to helping the team compete in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League.
"Nice has helped many players achieve their dreams and reach top clubs globally. I am here to do my best and honor my country," Abdelmonem concluded.
Abdelmonem’s transfer makes him the ninth Egyptian player to appear in France’s top division, following in the footsteps of compatriots such as Mostafa Mohamed and Ahmed Hossam 'Mido'.
