Dari, who joined Ahly at the end of August, was preparing to start for Morocco in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho when he twisted his ankle during pre-match exercises.

The 24-year-old was replaced as a precaution to prevent further injury.

"The scans confirm that Achraf Dari has suffered a sprain in his ankle," Ahly’s team doctor said in a statement on the club's official website. 

"He has already started his treatment program in preparation for his return to full training," he added.

Dari's absence adds a concern for Ahly ahead of their upcoming CAF Champions League first-leg match against Kenya's Gor Mahia on Sunday.
