The unique event is part of a larger mission to promote eco-friendly diving tourism free of waste and plastic pollution.
Captain Walaa Hafez, a former navy officer and one-time scuba-diving world-record holder, will lead the event.
Hafez, who continued diving despite a severe car accident that left him quadriplegic, will embark on a 45-minute dive in Hurghada in preparation for his in-planning quest to break the world record by diving for 7 consecutive days under the Red Sea.
The week-long planned dive will require the team to manage eating, drinking, breathing, and other bodily functions in a manner that does not pollute the underwater environment.
The mission would involve the support of 23 volunteer divers and a specialized medical team.
