Gad El Haq made these comments during a panel titled "Reconfiguring an Established Media Ecosystem by Embracing Disruptive Technological Innovations" at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC2024), which was held in Amsterdam 13-16 September, according to an UMS statement.
The panel featured Amr El Feki, CEO and Managing Director of United Media Services (UMS), according to an UMS statement.
As one of the world’s most important events in television broadcasting and related technologies, the IBC has attracted thousands of media professionals, specialists, and senior media leaders globally for over 57 years.
The panel highlighted the role of UMS, Egypt's largest media conglomerate and the operator of WATCH IT, in advancing and supporting Egyptian and Arab media.
“UMS has heavily invested in incorporating technology across all areas of media and entertainment production since its inception,” said Gad El Haq.
"This enabled us to lead the industry in both the Egyptian and Arab markets," she added.
These investments by UMS have been key in driving the development and success of WATCH IT, making its original productions gaining widespread popularity in Egypt and many countries across the Middle East.
WATCH IT’s success has also been bolstered by its role as a launching pad for rising stars in Egypt and the Arab world, resulting from UMS’s continuous investment in nurturing new talent in acting, directing, and all aspects of drama and film production, according to the statement.
UMS, founded in 2016, is one of the largest media conglomerates in the Arab world.
UMS operates 17 TV channels, including three news channels, 12 newspapers and news websites, and 6 radio stations, among other leading companies.
The company also offers notable sports rights and marketing expertise.
