Abdelatty made his remarks during separate phone calls on Tuesday with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib.

The calls came following the recent cyber attack that targeted communications infrastructure, resulting in numerous explosions across various regions.

During the calls, Abdelatty said that El-Sisi's directives aimed at reaffirming Egypt's steadfast support for Lebanon during these critical times, its commitment to Lebanon's security, and stability, and its rejection of any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty by an external party.

The Egyptian FM reiterated his warning of the potential for escalating regional conflict into a full-scale regional war, highlighting the dangers posed by recent and rapid developments in southern Lebanon.

He emphasised the critical need to avoid further escalation by reaching an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt’s top diplomat also called for halting Israeli aggression in the West Bank, securing a deal for the release of captives and detainees, and ensuring full and unrestricted aid access for the Palestinians in Gaza.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel expanded its war in the Middle East, widening its nearly year-long war on Gaza to focus on the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah along its northern border with Lebanon.

The cyber attack, which resulted in nine deaths and nearly 3,000 injuries, comes at a time of heightened tensions between Lebanon and Israel.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israeli forces have been clashing near-daily for more than 11 months against the backdrop of the war in Gaza.

The clashes have killed hundreds in Lebanon and dozens in Israel and displaced tens of thousands on both sides of the borders.
