The call came hours following Israel’s attacks on communication infrastructure in Lebanon.
In a statement on Tuesday, Aboul-Gheit condemned the Israeli attacks as treacherous, warning of the repercussions of this dangerous escalation against Lebanon and its people.
"The attacks coincide with irresponsible statements from Israeli leaders who seem intent on broadening the scope of the war on the southern Lebanon front, which could dangerously destabilize the entire region,” he emphasized.
Moreover, Aboul-Gheit expressed his unwavering solidarity with Lebanon and its government in the face of this blatant assault on the country’s sovereignty and security, the statement added.
Earlier on Tuesday, pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded across Lebanon, in a cyber attack targeting Lebanon’s communications infrastructure, killing nine people and wounding nearly 3,000 others.
The explosion came just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled intentions to widen the nearly year-long war on Gaza and focus on the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah along the northern border with Lebanon.
The cyber attack comes at a time of heightened tensions on the Lebanon-Israel borders.
The Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israeli forces have had near-daily clashes for more than 11 months against the backdrop of the war in Gaza.
The clashes have so far killed hundreds in Lebanon and dozens in Israel and displaced dozens of thousands on both sides of the borders.
