Pyramids FC seek to secure a berth in the CAF Champions League group stage as they host Rwanda's APR FC in the second leg of the preliminary round on Saturday.

The Egyptian Premier League runners-up salvaged a 1-1 draw in the first leg a week ago, with Congolese forward Fiston Mayele equalizing with a header just seven minutes before the final whistle.

This levelled the score after Pyramids' Moroccan right-back Mohamed Chibi inadvertently scored an own goal.

The Egyptian side qualified for the second round after defeating JKU of Zanzibar 6-0 in the first leg and winning 3-1 in the second leg.

Pyramids FC, a rapidly rising force in Egyptian football, are determined to overcome past disappointments in continental competitions.

Their quest for redemption follows a heartbreaking loss in the 2019 African Confederation Cup final to Morocco's RS Berkane.

Recently crowned Egypt Cup champions, Pyramids FC finished as runners-up in the Egyptian League, trailing champions Ahly by six points.
