"Having received the green light from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, EFA has come to terms with Brazilian coach Micale to lead the 2005 national team over the next four years," stated the EFA on Monday.
The seasoned coach Micale, 55, notably steered the Egypt U-23 national team to the 2024 Paris Olympic semifinals, marking a historic achievement not seen since 1964.
Micale's squad topped their group, surpassing eventual champions Spain.
They clinched victory against the South American champions in a penalty shootout but faced elimination in the semifinals against hosts France following a tense 3-1 loss in extra time.
Consequently, the EFA has chosen to prolong Micale's tenure in a new capacity to assemble a formidable team for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Games.
"EFA is crafting a high-caliber Olympic team geared towards participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, aiming to fulfill the fans' aspirations by securing an Olympic medal," the EFA elaborated.
In August 2022, Micale, a former coach of Saudi club Al-Hilal and UAE's Al-Dhafra, was appointed as the coach of Egypt's U-23 national football team.
