Motsepe highlighted that the prizes for CAF competitions have already seen significant increases under his leadership.

The total prize pool for the prestigious CAF Champions League now stands at $4 million for the winners, up from $2.5 million, while the runners-up receive $2 million.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, the prize for the champions has been increased to $2 million, with $1 million awarded to the runners-up.

In addition, the newly launched African Super League provided each of the eight participating clubs with $1 million just for taking part. The winner of the African Super League will take home $4 million, while the runner-up will receive $3 million.

Meanwhile, the winner of the African Super Cup now receives $500,000, up from $250,000 in previous years.

“These increases are just the beginning. We are striving to further raise the financial stakes, ensuring that African clubs are more competitive on the global stage,” Motsepe told MBC Egypt 2.

"The main issue for African football is funding, and we are working to elevate our leagues to match European spending so that they continue to develop," he said.

Motsepe’s remarks come amid a broader push to enhance partnerships and generate new revenue streams, including a recent collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season, spearheaded by Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh.

He described the partnership as a strategic move that would benefit Africa and Saudi Arabia.

In addition, Motsepe highlighted the importance of globally showcasing Africa’s footballing talent.

"We all take pride in what Morocco's national team achieved in the World Cup. African football has seen great successes recently," he said.

Furthermore, Motsepe thanked FIFA for its ongoing support, emphasizing the need for African clubs to become financially independent.

"Stadiums are always full, which means more revenue is coming. Clubs must rely on themselves financially," he noted.

"The money we collect from competitions should go to the winning clubs. This helps close the door to corruption and bribery," the CAF president concluded.
