Egypt and Turkey FMs urge reaching immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan agreed Thursday on the necessity of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent the region from sliding into a full-scale war.

This came during a meeting between the two top diplomats on the sidelines of the high-level meetings of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Both FMs further urged the international community to take responsibility for addressing this dangerous escalation in the region.

They also discussed the ongoing regional crises in Sudan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and the Red Sea, and developments in the Horn of Africa.

During the meeting, both top diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing economic, investment, and trade relations between the two countries following high-level visits from both sides.

On Thursday, Egypt warned of the intractable risks from Israeli violations in Gaza and Lebanon, urging an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire.
