Major General Atef Moftah, general supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project, Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric Northeast Africa & Levant, and key officials from both sides attended the signing ceremony.

This partnership is part of the museum's broader strategy to achieve sustainability and improve energy efficiency through cutting-edge technology.

GEM has received several awards, including five ISO certifications in different fields, such as occupational safety and health and environmental and energy management.

The museum has received the Green Building Award during the Environment and Development Forum and the international EDGE Zero-Carbon certification.

The MoU framework explores the design and construction of a smart museum concept using Schneider Electric’s expertise and the EcoStruxure Platform.

This technology will manage critical infrastructure, including electricity, HVAC systems, and data networks, thus enhancing the museum's operations reliability and reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

This collaboration builds on the company’s previous success in the King Khufu Boat Museum project, which won the global Best Smart Energy Solutions award.

Schneider Electric's advanced energy monitoring solutions significantly improved network reliability and efficiency, demonstrating the potential for similar enhancements at the Grand Egyptian Museum.

"We are committed to making the GEM a global model for cultural heritage preservation and tourism, leveraging the latest technologies to enhance visitors’ experiences and support sustainable development goals,” said Major General Atef Moftah.

"This project exemplifies our commitment to creating impactful solutions that empower communities while preserving invaluable heritage. Schneider Electric’s smart building solutions will play a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency at this iconic landmark,” according to Sebastien Riez.

The GEM, spanning over 500,000 square metres, is a monumental achievement in modern Egypt that showcases an extensive collection of artefacts, reflecting the rich history of Egyptian civilization.

The museum’s integration of interactive technologies is poised to reinforce Egypt's status as a premier global tourist destination.
