The countries presenting their folklore include Egypt, Algeria, the Maldives, Romania, Indonesia, Palestine, Jordan, and India.
The selection includes 12 troupes from Egypt, with many affiliated with the General Authority for Cultural Palaces and representing regions such as Ismailia, New Valley, Aswan, and Alexandria.
These are topped with two troupes embracing individuals with special needs from the Suez Canal Authority and White Hearts troupes from Ismailia.
While the official opening is scheduled for 2 October at the Ismailia Cultural Palace, the first presentation of international folklore will take place on the eve of the opening (1 October) with a grand parade of all participating troupes walking from the Old Governorate building through Ismailia streets.
Four days of performance (3-6 October) will fill the stages of various venues across Ismailia: Sheikh Zayed Park, Khaled Ibn Al-Walid Park, Family Club, and Al-Fayrouz Beach.
The folkloric shows will also extend to the neighbouring towns such as Fayed, 20 kilometres south of Ismailia, and Qantara Gharb, a small city by the Suez Canal bridge.
Paralleling the troupes, the festival will also host an exhibition of traditional crafts and scientific seminars focusing on developing folk arts in Egypt.
The celebratory closing of the festival that will gather all the troupes will occur at the Ismailia Cultural Palace on 7 October.
The festival, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Ismailia Governorate, will see the collaboration of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
