The state-run IRNA news agency says Abbas Nilforushan, 58, was killed Friday in Lebanon.

Nilforushan was sanctioned in 2022 by the U.S. government, which identified him as deputy commander for operations in the guard.

Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said Saturday that the killing of Nasrallah will bring about Israel's "destruction".

Iran’s U.N. Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani wrote a letter to the heads of the United Nations and the Security Council on Saturday calling for an emergency council meeting over the attack that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.“Using U.S.-supplied thousand-pound bunker busters,” he wrote.

On Saturday, Israel’s military said it killed a Hezbollah intelligence official in a strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, where Nasrallah was killed.

The military said it “eliminated” Hassan Khalil Yassin in a strike in the Dahieh area of Beirut.
