General Coordinator of Egypt's National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan
According to Rashwan, the recommendations from these sessions will be presented to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for further action.
Earlier on Sunday, El-Sisi emphasized the significance of maintaining an ongoing dialogue within society, noting that this dialogue is continuously active. He highlighted the effectiveness of media and drama in communicating messages more powerfully than conventional meetings.
Speaking at a banquet after the graduation ceremony of a new class from the Police Academy, El-Sisi added that all issues can be discussed in the dialogue, including sensitive ones, especially given the increasing tensions in the Middle East and Egypt's efforts to address these challenges.
Rashwan further noted that the meeting will be held in response to El-Sisi's renewed call for the dialogue to prioritize national security and foreign policy issues in its upcoming sessions.
He also revealed that El-Sisi's call comes amid the recent dangerous developments in the regional situation since Israel launched its brutal aggression on Gaza on 7 October and potential signs of a wider conflict in the region, emphasizing that things have become more complex following the recent full-scale Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
In addition, Rashwan noted that El-Sisi's focus on national security and foreign policy issues has been evident since his speech in April, which followed taking the constitutional oath before the House of Representatives.
He pointed out that during that speech El-Sisi placed protecting and preserving Egypt's national security at the forefront of the seven key areas for his new presidential term.
Rashwan also recalled that at the time, the board stressed the importance and necessity of ongoing popular and political support of the political leadership's consistent, steadfast, and decisive positions. He affirmed that President El-Sisi has repeatedly emphasized that the Palestinian issue is the central cause for maintaining regional stability and that the only solution lies in recognizing the Palestinian State.
Moreover, Rashwan pointed out El-Sisi's firm rejection of the Palestinians' displacement, the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, and any infringement on Egypt's national security or its full sovereignty over its territories.
The National Dialogue was launched in May 2023 upon a call from President El-Sisi to address Egypt's diverse political, economic, and social issues.
