Barcelona's Spanish forward #21 Frenkie De Jong (R) and #09 Robert Lewandowski take part in a training session on the eve of the UEFA Champions League football match between Young Boys and FC Barcelona at the Joan Gamper training ground in Sant Joan Despi, near Barcelona, on September 30, 2024. AFP
De Jong hurt his right ankle in April in the clasico against Real Madrid.
The Dutch midfielder also missed the European Championship.
Flick said De Jong's return was “great news” for the team, even if he played only five or 10 minutes on Tuesday.
Barcelona will host Young Boys hoping to rebound from an opening 2-1 loss at Monaco in the Champions League.
