Hezbollah targeted "a movement of enemy soldiers in Metula with artillery shells", then a "gathering of enemy soldiers" in the same area with rockets.

Hezbollah said it also targeted Israeli troops in Avivim on the other side of the border with artillery.

The Israeli military said earlier Tuesday that troops had started "ground raids" in villages in southern Lebanon.

It said several projectiles were fired from across the border into Israel's northern areas.

The projectiles were fired in the Metula and Avivim areas, the military said, adding that some were intercepted while others fell in open areas.
