Israeli attacks targeting Gaza's residential areas have left at least 19 dead and many others wounded in a series of devastating airstrikes on the Nuseirat camp and the Shuja'iyya school in Gaza.

The attacks targeted residential areas, including homes and schools, resulting in a tragic loss of lives, predominantly among children and women.

In the Nuseirat camp, 12 civilians lost their lives in two houses bombed by the Israeli forces.

Among the casualties were seven children and three women from the Al-Durrah and Abu Ataya families.

In Gaza City, seven civilians were killed in the bombing of the Shuja'iyya school, where displaced people sought refuge.

Violence escalated as the Israeli army targeted residential buildings in Rafah and various neighbourhoods in Gaza, raising the death toll to 41,615, with a significant number of victims still trapped under rubble.

The situation has drawn international condemnation, with Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini describing the ongoing aggression as an "endless nightmare."

Lazzarini highlighted the dire conditions in Gaza, where people face daily threats of disease, death, and hunger, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and calling for immediate action to address the crisis.

Moreover, he pointed out that education must be a priority, particularly for the hundreds of thousands of children living amid the destruction in Gaza.

Despite the challenges, he said, UNRWA has been working to provide educational opportunities for these vulnerable children.

Meanwhile, military operations in the West Bank have caused widespread destruction, exacerbating an already dire situation.

The UN official also shed light on the plight of refugees in Lebanon, where thousands have sought shelter in UNRWA facilities amid escalating tensions.

The Israeli army further intensified its crackdown by detaining 30 Palestinians, including a child and former detainees, in raids across the West Bank.

This recent wave of detentions adds to the over 11,000 Palestinians already held captive since the beginning of the Gaza war.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society and the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission have documented numerous human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings, physical abuse, enforced disappearances, and the destruction of homes and property.

The alarming scale of detentions underscores the urgent need for international intervention to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in the region.
