In Photos: El-Sisi lays wreaths at tombs of Unknown Soldier, Sadat, Nasser to mark October victory

Marking the 51st anniversary of the 6th of October War 1973, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi laid wreaths at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Nasr City on Saturday as well as the tombs of late presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Gamal Abdel-Nasser.

According to a statement by the military spokesman, military bands performed the Martyr's Salute in honour of the fallen.

El-Sisi greeted family members of the late presidents, a host of veterans of the October War, senior armed forces officials, and top state officials.

President El-Sisi was accompanied by Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdel-Meguid Saqr and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa.

This year Egypt celebrates the 51st anniversary of its victory against Israel under the leadership of late President El-Sadat.

The sixth of October, which falls this year on Sunday, is a paid holiday for public and private sectors in Egypt in observation of the victory.
