During a phone call with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides, President El-Sisi warned of the grave impacts of the ongoing escalation on all the peoples of the region. He said the current escalation obstructs their aspirations for stability and development.
For his part, the Cypriot President praised Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the region, stressing his country's commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at promoting peace and security, the Egyptian presidency said.
Egypt has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, exerting intensive efforts towards preventing a full-scale war in the Middle East.
Egyptian-Cypriot Ties
During the call, both leaders also affirmed their countries' commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various fields, particularly in economy, energy, and electrical connectivity.
Furthermore, they underscored their commitment to the Tripartite Cooperation Mechanism with Greece and its regular meetings, considering it an important tool for promoting regional cooperation.
Over the past decade, Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece have enhanced their tripartite cooperation in various areas, featuring high-level meetings and several summits to promote and develop joint projects and initiatives.
