Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to rejecting any plans aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land.
He also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to ensure unhindered access to humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, stressing the obstacles posed by the Israeli occupation army, particularly regarding control over the Rafah crossing.
Furthermore, according to a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty noted the challenges faced by UN-affiliated humanitarian organizations and the restrictions on individuals' movement through the crossing.
He also underscored the importance of maintaining the unity of Palestinian territories, specifically in the context of preventing efforts to separate the West Bank from Gaza.
During the meeting, Abdelatty detailed Egypt's ongoing communications with various stakeholders to halt the Israeli war in Gaza and facilitate a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners and detainees.
He also discussed Egypt's efforts to garner support for the recognition of the Palestinian state and its diplomatic efforts to promote a lasting and just resolution to the Palestinian issue, advocating for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, Abdelatty stressed the necessity of uniting Palestinian factions and strengthening the role of the Palestinian Authority to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Delegations from the Fatah and Hamas movements convened in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss Palestinian unity and the management of border crossings amid ongoing Israeli hostilities.
Since 7 October 2023, Israel has reportedly killed at least 41,909 individuals in Gaza, predominantly women and children, severely damaging the region’s infrastructure and displacing the majority of its population.
