"The national team's contingent, led by coach Hossam Hassan, has arrived in Mauritania as part of the preparations for the fourth round of AFCON qualifiers," stated the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in a post on Facebook.

On Friday, the Pharaohs defeated Mauritania 2-0 in Cairo to go on top of their Group C, which includes Cape Verde and Botswana, with 9 points from three victories in as many games.

They need a single point from their remaining three trio of matches to book their ticket to the prestigious tournament, which is set to be held in Morocco 21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026.

Pharaohs' coach Hossam Hassan decided to rest star forward Mohamed Salah and striker Mostafa Mohamed for the Mauritania clash in Nouakchott with concerns over the artificial turf and the physical style of play by the Mauritanian side.
