Thurs 24, 1- 2pm: Join an English book talk discussing "Dismantling Green Colonialism: Energy and Climate Justice in the Arab Region". This collection explores the Arab region's unique position at the intersection of substantial fossil fuel reserves, histories of colonialism, and immense potential for green energy. The authors challenge Eurocentric narratives and advocate for a class-conscious approach to climate justice across diverse Arab countries. Speakers: Hamza Hamouchene, a London-based Algerian researcher-activist, commentator and a founding member of Algeria Solidarity Campaign (ASC), Environmental Justice North, Asmaa Mohamed Amin, an energy engineer and specialist based in Jordan, and Mohamed Gad is a researcher in international finance and political economy, currently transitioning his focus toward economics after 20 years in economic journalism.

Mon 21, 7pm: "Encounters of Ibn Bâjja" introduces Spanish philosopher Javier Moscoso, research professor of history and philosophy of Science at the Institute of Philosophy of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), to talk about the cultural history of nations (simultaneous interpreting into Arabic, free entry).  Thurs 24, 5pm: The "Libraries' Day", join the institute's celebration of this special day organized for all book lovers (free entry).

Thurs 17, 5pm: CAI Mission Lectures 2024 - 2025 Cycle of conferences dedicated to the results of ongoing Italian-Egyptian archaeological missions 'Glimpses of life' during the late Roman period at Kom Al-Ahmer Western Delta, Beheira, Egypt, by Giorgia Marchiori and Mohamed Kenawi. The interdisciplinary project studying the two connected settlements of Kom Al-Ahmer and Kom Wasit started in 2012 with the aim to investigate and preserve their heritage and archaeology. This lecture will focus on the life at Kom Al-Ahmer during the late Roman period through the results of the recent excavations. "The Rosetta Project: the Conservation of the Amasili House" lecture will illustrate the efforts undertaken by the international multi-disciplinary team to conserve and maintain the Ottoman period house with the scope of preserving Rosetta’s distinctive archaeological and architectural heritage. The lecture will also concentrate on the future of the Rosetta Project and the plans to conserve and rehabilitate an entire sector of the town. 

Tues 22, 5pm: Series of conferences dedicated to young researchers who have benefited from MAECI (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) scholarships for study programmes in Italy. "The Cultural Landscape of Civita Di Bagnoregio (Italy): Heritage Branding and Authenticity" lecture by professor Mohamed Amer, PhD in Heritage Marketing and Sustainable Cultural Tourism from Roma Tre University. The speaker will clarify the interconnection between the fundamentals of branding and conservative management to enhance the outstanding values of cultural identity manifestations, reviewing the branding statement of the Italian cultural landscape of Civita di Bagnoregio. At the end, he will explain his proposed model "People-centred Heritage Branding Approach" which seeks to generate a lifelong learning memory for the community and a long-term brand image for the visitors’ mentality.
