An altercation began, Thursday, between former presidential candidate Amr Moussa and the Liberal Wafd Party, after Moussa failed to discuss his role as head of the newly-established Egyptian Conference Party (ECP) with the political party.
Moussa, who came fifth in the presidential elections, is already honorary president of the Wafd Party, a title he was granted in May of this year. Relations, consequently, soured on Monday when Moussa launched the ECP, a coalition of 25 political parties and movements that does not include the Wafd.
According to Egyptian daily Al-Shorouk, the Wafd is set to hold a meeting late Thursday with Moussa to discuss its disagreement over Moussa's leadership of the ECP, which the Wafd is not a part of.
The ECP includes the Democratic Front Party, Ghad El-Thawra party, the Egyptian Arabic Socialist Party, the El-Geel Democratic Party, the Social Peace Party, the Reform and Building Party, the Sufi Egyptian, the Tahrir Party, Masr El-Fatah, the Egyptian Arabic Union, the Revolution's Guards, the Thawra Party, Arab for Justice and Equality, the Social Justice Party, Al-Tali'a Al-Arabiya Party, Al-Wai'e Party, the Revolution Youth Union, Amr Moussa's presidential campaign team, El-Khodr Party and Al-Mustikloon Al-Goded.
It also contains a large number of offshoots of Hosni Mubarak's now-defunct National Democratic Party, such as the Conservatives Party, the Freedom Party and the Egyptian Citizen Party.
