Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung says that the progress of in-form Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush returns to a special program by the club and also readiness from the player himself.

“Marmoush is a very talented player and we know that since the early start. We know he has promising chances that need much work,” Hardung told MBC MASR 2 TV channel early on Saturday.

“We are working on improving his skills at both the personal and collective levels through training and also enhancing his physical level,” he added.

The 25-year-old Marmoush, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, has quickly become the club's top scorer this season, with 10 goals after a series of outstanding performances.

The Egyptian international's dazzling performance sparked interest from Premier League giants, such as Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Arsenal.

Hardung highlighted that his club realized Marmoush’s talent in previous confrontations with his former clubs, adding that they found him a prolific player on the pitch who poses a threat to opponents.

“We always analyze his level to continue working on his outstanding points to bring his performance to the highest point,” Hardung explained.

“To achieve this, Marmoush has to demonstrate the willingness to improve, which he did, and we have to be motivated to work with him, which we have done,” he added.

Hardung concluded that Marmoush’s mentality helped him significantly improve and establish himself as a prominent name on the squad.

Marmoush, whose contract with Frankfurt runs until 2027, has been pivotal in pushing the club to third in the Bundesliga standings this season.

Marmoush's journey to success

Marmoush's journey in professional football began in Cairo, Egypt, where he was born in February 1999. He debuted with Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League in July 2016, following his first goal in a December Egypt Cup match.

His promising start led him to Germany, where he joined Wolfsburg in August 2017, initially playing for the reserve team.

Marmoush made significant strides forward, debuting for Wolfsburg’s first team in a Bundesliga match in May 2020 and signing his first professional contract a month later. His European debut came in August 2020 in a Europa League match.

In 2021, Marmoush was loaned out twice: first to St Pauli and then to Stuttgart, where he impressed with a last-minute equalizer on his debut, earning the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month award.

Internationally, Marmoush played for the Egyptian national team for the first time in October 2021 and participated in all matches during the Africa Cup of Nations in December 2021. His performance secured him another Rookie of the Month award in March 2022.

After being reintegrated into Wolfsburg, he marked his return with his first goal for the club in a German Cup match in July 2022.

In January 2023, Marmoush featured in his second AFCON tournament. His journey took another turn when Eintracht Frankfurt acquired him on a free transfer in May 2023. Marmoush quickly adapted, scoring on his debut for Frankfurt in the German Cup and Bundesliga in August 2023 and adding his first European goal in September 2023.

By May 2024, he ended his debut season at Frankfurt with a personal best of 17 goals. He continued his impressive form into the next season, scoring in five consecutive Bundesliga matches before the international break earlier this month.
