The White Knights advanced to the Egypt Super Cup final with a 5-4 win over Pyramids FC in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regular time in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Pyramids FC's international winger, Ibrahim Adel, opened the scoring in the 14th minute, before Zamalek's Tunisian striker, Seif Jaziri, equalized five minutes before halftime.

"The match was challenging as we faced a strong opponent," Zamalek coach Jose Gomez told the post-match news conference.

"We made a costly mistake that allowed Pyramids FC to take the lead."

"Attention to small details always makes the difference, and our preparation for penalties paid off as we converted all five of ours."

Zamalek replicated their success in penalty shootouts from the CAF Super Cup, where they also scored all their shots against arch-rivals Ahly to secure the title in September.

The Portuguese coach expressed uncertainty about the availability of injured players fullback Omar Gaber and Nabil Emad for the final.

Both players missed the game against Pyramids FC due to muscle injuries.

"I'm unsure about their status. We will work towards getting them ready for the final," Gomez stated.

"While they are crucial players, our objective remains the same: to win the Egypt Super Cup."

Veteran midfielder Abdallah El-Saed lauded the team's resilience, highlighting their composure on the field despite Pyramids FC holding the advantage.

Zamalek's Tunisian striker Seif Jaziri, who scored the equalizer, affirmed the team's readiness to face any opponent in the final.

Zamalek are set to face the winner of the match between Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra on Thursday 24 October.

On the other hand, Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurčić believed his team outperformed their opponents, attributing their struggles to the challenging conditions during the match.

"We put up a strong performance. Missing a penalty and having a goal disallowed were setbacks," Jurčić acknowledged.

"I appreciate my players' efforts throughout the game." he concluded.
