Turkey seeks to increase scholarships for Egyptian students: Turkish ambassador to Cairo

Turkey seeks to increase the number of master's, university research, and doctoral scholarships for Egyptian students to 500, the Turkish ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen announced on Thursday.

Turkey's ambassador made his remarks during his a ceremony honoring academics who completed a Turkish language training program.

The program, titled “Capabilities Development Programme for Turkish Language Departments in the Egyptian Universities, is organized by the Yunus Emre Institute in Cairo.

The ceremony was organized by the Yunus Emre Institute and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Şen praised Egypt's efforts to teach the Turkish language, saying it has historical and cultural roots. He expressed hope that Turkish education in Egypt would continue to grow with Turkey's support.

Additionally, Şen expressed his hope that the program develop the capabilities of the Turkish departments in Egyptian universities would be the beginning of other long-term programs.

 “We stand by you, and we appreciate the work of each one of you,” he told the student attending the event.

 

He urged Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities to develop innovative programs focusing on the Turkish language, culture, economy, industry, science, and technology.

The Turkish ambassador expressed hope that Turkish universities would organize short-term programs in Turkey for Turkish language professors.
