The meetings occurred on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia.

During their meeting, Abdelatty and Russian FM Sergey Lavrov warned against the dangers of ongoing escalations that could drag the whole Middle East into a regional war.

They also affirmed the importance of pursuing a political settlement that ensures regional stability by establishing a Palestinian state as a definitive resolution to the conflict, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Moreover, Minister Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's efforts to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, secure captives' release, ensure access to humanitarian aid, and work toward halting current escalations.

In his meeting with Brazilian counterpart Vieira, both sides acknowledged that the Israeli aggression threatens the whole region to slip into a wider conflict, stressing the necessity of providing humanitarian and relief aid.

Egypt, along with the US and Qatar, has been mediating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire in the yearlong Israeli war on Gaza.

Cairo has repeatedly urged de-escalating the conflict to prevent the region from descending into a full-scale war.
