Cairo International Biennial of The Arabic Calligraphy Art

The ninth edition of the Cairo International Biennial of Arabic Calligraphy Art is dedicated to the late Egyptian calligrapher Mohamed Hamam.
Youssry Hassan Abdelrahman, Khaled El-Saei, and Mahmoud Mustafa Al-Sahli will be honoured.
The biennale includes seminars and workshops for young calligraphers to develop their calligraphy skills.

Arab Music Festival and Conference closing ceremony

The annual event hosts dozens of concerts for some of the most well-known Egyptian and Arab singers, bands, and instrumentalists.
Directed by musician Khaled Dagher, the 32nd edition includes numerous artists, such as Medhat Saleh, Hani Shaker, Tamer Ashour, Ahmed Saad, and Ali El-Haggar.
The closing ceremony will feature Egyptian singer Mai Farouk, under the baton of Tamer Faizy.
Forever Is Now - art exhibition

Organized by Art D’Egypte, Forever Is Now is a contemporary art exhibition that brings together regional and international artists to contemplate the wonders of ancient civilization.
The fourth edition will have 12 global artists showcasing their artwork.
Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF)
Running until 10 November
Several venues across Cairo and Alexandria
The 12th edition of D-CAF will feature 124 artists from 21 countries.
The festival will showcase 23 varied performances, encompassing dance, theatre, audiovisual presentations, and interactive experiences.
It will also offer a lineup of two exhibitions and nine workshops.

Autostrad - music

Autostrad, established in 2007, consists of six members.
The Jordanian band is influenced by genres, such as reggae, funk, Latin, and rock while giving its proper Jordanian touch.
Autostrad released three albums: Fe Autostrad (2008), Autostrad 2011 (2011), and Nitrogen (2013).
Ahmad Ali El-Haggar - music

Egyptian singer, songwriter, and producer Ahmed Ali El-Haggar will be accompanied by Ahmed Kamary on qanun, Sika on bass, and Azeema on drums and percussion.
El-Haggar, son of renowned singer Ali El-Haggar, fuses traditional music with Jazz and neo-soul flavours.
Over the past years, El-Haggar has established himself as one of the most popular young independent musicians. He has also joined other musicians in their concerts, including Carole King, Jason Mraz, and Melissa Etheridge.
His debut album was released in May 2020.
Mohamed Fawzi and Farid Al-Atrash tribute - music

The night will feature compositions by late renowned composers Mohamed Fawzi and Farid Al-Atrash.
Fawzi was a multifaceted artist, known as a singer, composer, actor, and filmmaker. He created many songs for films and was responsible for composing the music for "Kassaman," the national anthem of Algeria.
Egyptian-based Syrian composer and singer Al-Atrash composed some of the best songs for singers, including Sabah, Shadia, Warda, Soad Mohamed, Muharram Fouad, Wadih El-Safi, and Nour Al-Hoda.
Andromida - music

One of the oldest active rock bands in Egypt, Andromida was formed by Amr Hassan & Ihab Al Qalie (keyboard and vocals).
The band also includes Hassan, Sherif El-Sharqawi (drums and vocals), and Ahmed Anwar (bass and vocals).
Founded in Alexandria in 1987, the band is widely known for performing some of Pink Floyd’s most well-known songs.
Hisham Kharma - music

Gomhouria Theatre, Gomhouria Street, Downtown, Cairo
Composer Hisham Kharma mixes traditional and modern sounds in his concerts.
Kharma began performing live music concerts in 2016. Accompanied by a grand orchestra, Kharma performed in major events in notable locations, such as at the feet of the pyramids, the Cairo Citadel, and the London Mansion House.
He created the theme music for numerous important national events across many Egyptian institutions.
Arees El-Bahr - theatre
Thursday 25 and Friday 26 October, 8.30pm
El Rihany Theatre, 17 Emad El-Deen, Al Azbakeya, Cairo
The play is inspired by Mohamed Taha’s ballad Masoud and Wajida and directed by Waleed Talaat.
Arees El-Bahr, coming from the heart of Upper Egypt, revolves around two brothers divided by greed.
Cairo Symphony Orchestra - music
Saturday 26 October, 8.30pm
Cairo Opera House, Main Hall, Zamalek, Cairo
The evening will feature Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor Op. 47. The soloist is a young Egyptian violin prodigy Nour Mohamed Abdelfattah.
In the second half of the evening, the orchestra will play Beethoven’s masterpiece, Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.”
The concert will be conducted by Ahmed El-Saedi, the Cairo Symphony’s principal conductor and music director.
Michael Dierks - music
German Evangelical Church, 32 El-Galaa St., Boulaq, Cairo
Sunday 27 October, 8pm
Michael Dierks, a musician at the German St. Gertrude Church in Stockholm, Sweden, will play works by JS Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Emil Sjögren, and Franz Danksagmüller on the historic Walcker organ.
Taking pride in the German Protestant Church which opened in Boulaq in 1912, the organ went through several renovations, continuing to be used in occasional concerts held at the church.
Ali El-Haggar - music

El-Haggar has been one, and still, of the best-known singers in Egypt and the Arab world over the past four decades.
His songs carry lyrics drawn from the poetry of Salah Jahin, Abdel-Rahman El-Abnoudy, and Sayed Hegab to music by the country's most renowned composers, such as Baligh Hamdy, Sayed Mekkawy, and Omar Khairat.
Irtigalia - theatre improvisation

Boom Room, Open Air Mall, Madinaty
Irtigalia is a live improvised and interactive comedy theatre performance, directed by Ramzi Lehner, with no script or preparation. All sketches are decided by the audience during the show while being encouraged to join the performers on stage in some of them.
