The event was organized by the Chinese embassy in Cairo, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Central Publishing House for Authorship and Translation in China, and other bodies.  

It was attended by Sun Dongsheng, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of CPC History and Documentation, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki, as well as several ambassadors and journalists,

Ambassador Liqiang said: "Modernization is a common goal pursued by all countries. How to achieve modernization in developing countries that have lagged in the modernization process is a global dilemma."

"China, as the largest developing country in the world, has completed the industrialization process that took hundreds of years in advanced Western countries in just a few decades, creating a miracle in the global history of modernization by following a development path that is compatible with China's national conditions."

"What is the basic character of Chinese-style modernization? What are the goals, plans and strategies of Chinese-style modernization? What is its global impact? The answers to these questions are found in the book "Excerpts from Xi Jinping's Speeches on Chinese-Style Modernization," which provides in-depth explanations of the rich contents of Chinese-style modernization, including its Chinese characteristics, essential requirements, and basic principles."

"The book is a reference for Chinese and foreign readers who want to understand Chinese-style modernization from both theoretical and practical perspectives, and learn how the Chinese people have successfully discovered the path of Chinese-style modernization, created a new form of human civilization, and opened up new prospects for modernization under the leadership of the CPC."

Ambassador Liqiang continued: "Dear friends, in the midst of the tremendous changes that have taken place over the past century, the pursuit of development and rejuvenation has become a common aspiration of China, Egypt and many other developing countries, and countries in the Global South are making steady strides in exploring a development path that suits their national conditions with an independent will."  

"Last July, the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held, which made a comprehensive plan for further deepening reform and advancing Chinese-style modernization."

"At the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September, President Xi Jinping put forward the six-point vision for joint China-Africa action to advance modernization, announcing the ten partnership actions to advance modernization with Africa over the next three years, which received positive responses from all African leaders and will provide a strong impetus to accelerating the pace of modernization in the “Global South” and on a global scale," Liqiang said.
