In an interview with Footafrica, French coach Denis Lavagne has threatened to lodge a formal complaint with the Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT) following his dismissal one week ago.

Lavagne, who replaced Spain's Javier Clemente as Cameroon coach in October of last year, was sacked following the Indomitable Lions' 2-0 away defeat to minnows Cape Verde in 2013 CAN qualifiers.

"I'm sure that the sports minister took the decision without consulting or informing FECAFOOT," the dismissed coach said. "This contradicts FIFA rules. They gave me a vote of confidence that I would still get the team into the 2013 CAN finals."

FECAFOOT, meanwhile, has appointed Jean Paul Akono as interim coach for the rest of the qualifiers.

"I'm talking with my lawyer now and we're considering making a plea to FIFA," said Lavagne. "Until now, they owe me 12 months of salary, and if they don't pay me I'm definitely going to sue."

Lavagne, 48, now on holiday in France, has confirmed that he plans to return to Yaounde on 26 September as scheduled, after reaching agreement with FECAFOOT officials.
