During the meeting, the Egyptian side conveyed to the Israeli delegation Cairo's rejection of the ongoing military operation in the northern Gaza Strip.

Egypt also warned of the dangers of the ongoing Israeli obstruction of humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip, a high-level Egyptian source told the channel.

Earlier on Thursday, a delegation from Hamas arrived in Cairo to meet an Egyptian security delegation and discuss the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani announced that the US, Egypt, and Qatar have resumed efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal.

Egypt, along with the US and Qatar, has been mediating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire deal during the more-than-one-year Israeli war on Gaza.

Since October 2023, Israel has killed and injured over 140,000 Palestinians, mostly children and women, damaged most of Gaza’s infrastructure, and displaced the majority of the population.
