The Super Eagles faced a harrowing experience on 14 October when Libyan authorities stranded the team for over thirteen hours at Al Abraq Airport just ahead of a qualifying match set for Benghazi on 15 October.
The game between the two teams had to be postponed.
"The fixture No.87 between Libya and Nigeria in the TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations Qualifiers 2025 (originally scheduled for 15 October 2024 in Benghazi) is deemed forfeited by Libya with a score of 3-0," CAF stated on Saturday.
"The Libya Football Federation has been directed to pay a fine of $50,000 within 60 days of receiving the notification of this decision," the statement added.
The incident was comprehensively investigated by the CAF Disciplinary Board, including consultations with representatives from Libya and Nigeria.
CAF has confirmed that all additional requests for redress or actions have been rejected.
Nigeria currently leads Group D in the qualifiers with ten points, maintaining a four-point lead over Benin in second place.
Rwanda closely follows in third place with five points, while Libya trails behind with just one point.
