Maher, whose real name was Hoda, passed away following a brief illness.
Her career began in the 1950s with her appearance in several films, including Beloved Country, People’s Secrets, A Father’s Mistake, I’m The Daughter Of Whom?, and Give Me Your Brain.
In Maher's early years, she starred alongside Abdel-Aziz Mahmoud in The Destined and Written (1953) and Mahmoud El-Meligy in The Defendant (1957).
Her notable appearances in the following decade include Love Beach (1961), featuring Farid Al-Atrash and Samira Ahmed, and Rabaa El-Adaweya (1963), starring Nabila Ebeid.
She appeared in The Manager (1965), directed by Fatin Abdel-Wahab, and My Wife’s Dignity (1967), with Shadia and Salah Zulfikar.
Maher participated in Naguib Mahfouz’s adaptation of The Palace of Desire (1967).
These two decades mark a milestone in her acting career, during which she participated alongside renowned actors such as Ismail Yassin, Farida Shawky, Roshdy Abaza, and Shokry Sarhan.
Her debut TV series was Nawwara (1973), starring Poussy, Nora, and Tawfik El-Dekn.
Later, the Egyptian actress participated in Youssef Chahine’s film The Destiny (1997).
Throughout her six-decade-long career, Maher acted in over 35 films. She also appeared in six TV series.
Her last appearance was in actor Mohamed Saad’s TV series Viva Atata (2014).
