Abdelatty's remarks came during a meeting with Muhannad Hadi, UN deputy special coordinator, resident and humanitarian coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides discussed the latest developments of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, where the Egyptian FM affirmed Cairo's support for the UN humanitarian coordinator's efforts.
Abdelatty highlighted the humanitarian catastrophe witnessed by the residents in the besieged strip, stressing Egypt's condemnation of the Israeli actions in northern Gaza.
During the meeting, the top diplomat also affirmed Cairo's steadfast rejection of any attempts to displace the residents of Gaza, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.
He further condemned all obstacles imposed by Israel on the entry of humanitarian aid to the strip, the targeting of humanitarian workers, and attempts to undermine the work and operations of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Egyptian top diplomat also gained insight into the UN official's perspective on the challenges faced by UN institutions and the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northern area, amid the Israeli military actions.
The meeting comes amid the rising tensions in the region following the Israeli attack on Iran and the ongoing brutal Israel aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, raising fears of a full-scale war.
Since October 2023, Israel has killed and injured over 140,000 Palestinians, mostly children and women, damaged most of Gaza’s infrastructure, and displaced the majority of the population.
