The tournament is split into three competitions, Ahmed Al-Nukhaili, the technical director of the championship, explained.
The African Carts Cup includes men’s and women’s teams from Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Uganda, and Palestine. On the first day, competitors will engage in group-stage matches, followed by singles and doubles matches on the second day.
The championship finals are scheduled for the third day.
Among the event attendees were Yahya Abdelkader, president of the Egyptian, Arab, and African Darts Federations; Dietmar Schumann, vice president of the International Darts Federation; and several leaders from Arab and African darts federations.
Abdelkader noted that Egypt’s role in this championship highlights the country's bid to hold the Darts World Championship in 2027. Efforts are being made to promote Sharm El-Sheikh as a candidate city for this global event, which Dietmar Schumann of the International Darts Federation warmly supported.
Schumann praised Egypt's organization of the three simultaneous championships — the national, Arab, and African tournaments — hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh.
He emphasized that Sharm El-Sheikh, with its eco-friendly facilities, has the infrastructure needed for the Darts World Championship, positioning it as a promising global sports destination. Schumann also expressed the International Darts Federation's commitment to helping grow the sport in Arab and African regions.
Gouda Abu Al-Nour, secretary-general of the Arab Darts Federation, stated that hosting the first African championship in Sharm El-Sheikh marks a watershed moment in the sport’s development in Africa and Asia while boosting Egypt’s reputation as a sports tourism hub. This move, he added, strengthens Egypt’s bid to host the World Championship.
