During a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Abdelatty considered this step as essential groundwork for establishing a Palestinian State and ending the Israeli occupation.

According to the foreign ministry, the Egyptian FM expressed Cairo's strong rejection and condemnation of Israel's acts of escalation that obstruct humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

He also condemned the Israeli measures preventing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from carrying out its role in the Strip.

During the call, which took place within the framework of the ongoing consultation regarding successive developments in the Middle East, both sides discussed efforts to halt the regional escalation.

They also addressed the ongoing efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid amid the deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

Support for Lebanon

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's efforts to end the presidential vacuum crisis in Lebanon, stressing the need to elect a Lebanese president through a national consensus free from foreign influence.

He emphasised the necessity of supporting Lebanese institutions, particularly the army, and respecting Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Furthermore, the Egyptian FM advocated for joint international efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

He also urged providing all forms of humanitarian support to Lebanon amid the country's severe humanitarian crisis.

Abdelatty further condemned Israeli incursions into the Lebanese territories and Israeli forces' targeting of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), viewing these actions as a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and international law.

Water Security

Addressing Blinken, Abdelatty emphasised that water security was an existential issue for Egypt and that Egypt would not allow any party to threaten it.

He highlighted that the Nile River is a lifeline for cooperation among Nile Basin countries rather than a source of conflict or tension through adherence to relevant international law and avoiding unilateral actions that could threaten regional stability.

Sudan Crisis

Both sides also addressed Sudan's escalating developments and efforts to secure a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Abdelatty reiterated the importance of preserving and supporting Sudan's institutions, unity and territorial integrity.

He also called for intensifying humanitarian and relief aid amid the worsening humanitarian conditions.

The Egyptian FM's call coincides with the rising tensions in the region due to the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza, Lebanon, and, most recently, Syria, raising fears of a full-scale war.

It also comes ahead of one of history's most anticipated US presidential elections.
