According to the Egyptian presidency, this came during their meeting on the sidelines of the 12th United Nations World Urban Forum, held in Cairo from 4 to 8 November 2024.

The Egyptian presidency reported that the meeting underscored Egypt's steadfast support, both leadership and people, for the Palestinian cause and rejection of all forms of Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people, whether in Gaza or the West Bank.

The two leaders discussed Egypt’s ongoing intensive efforts to de-escalate tensions, reach a ceasefire, and facilitate humanitarian aid delivery.

These efforts also align with Egypt's commitment to safeguarding the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish an independent state based on the 4 June 1967 borders following international legitimacy.

President El-Sisi reaffirmed during the meeting Egypt's support for the Palestinian Authority and the significant efforts Egypt has undertaken to help foster understanding and unity among all segments of the Palestinian people.

For his part, President Mahmoud Abbas presented his perspective on recent developments. He expressed his deep gratitude for Egypt's historic role and tireless efforts to support the Palestinian cause.

He emphasized that the Palestinian people sincerely appreciate Egypt’s continuous support across all levels, acknowledging its invaluable and ongoing contributions to Palestine.
