On Thursday at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in the New Administrative Capital, Ambassador Yasser Shaaban, Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations, handed over 67 artefacts recovered from Germany through the Egyptian embassy in Berlin to a specialized committee at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

These artefacts, representing various periods of Egyptian history, include significant pieces such as a mummified foot and leg, two masks, and two wall reliefs taken from the tomb of Minister Pek An Ren Ef of the 26th dynasty in Saqqara, as well as a royal bronze statue, the foreign ministry said.

The recovered gems include a collection of small ushabti statues, which, according to ancient Egyptian beliefs, were placed in tombs to serve the deceased in the afterlife, along with bronze statues of Osiris, the god of the dead and ruler of the afterlife.

According to the Foreign Ministry, this comes as part of the dedicated efforts to repatriate Egyptian antiquities abroad and preserve ithe country's cultural heritage.

The Foreign Ministry added that it is collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and diplomatic missions abroad to reclaim Egyptian artefacts smuggled out of the country.
