In photos: Egypt Armed Forces chief of staff inspects training, preparation of troops on Sinai border

Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa has conducted an inspection of military units stationed east of the Suez Canal, assessing their operational and administrative readiness to execute assigned missions.

The inspection tour, which lasted several days, aligns with the Armed Forces' commitment to ensuring constant communication and field monitoring to safeguard the nation’s borders across all strategic directions, according to a statement from the Egyptian army on Tuesday.

During his inspection, Lt. General Khalifa inspected several units within the Second Field Army, where he observed the combat preparedness of individual soldiers and their understanding of their duties.

He also inspected tactical training fields to follow up on the training system, designed to simulate highly realistic scenarios, reflecting the Armed Forces' focus on enhancing training systems using the latest methods to prepare soldiers to the highest standards.

Khalifa conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of Defence General Abdel-Meguid Saqr to the soldiers.

He praised the Second Field Army’s efforts in counter-terrorism operations and paid tribute to the martyrs of the October War and the fight against terrorism, who sacrificed their lives to secure the Sinai.

He stressed that the General Command of the Armed Forces has set its sights on achieving the highest rates of combat efficiency for the men of the Armed Forces in various specializations, which was clearly evident during the "Deterrence 2024" military exercise.

He also called on the soldiers to maintain the highest levels of vigilance and attention in security procedures to ensure a safe environment for investment and support comprehensive development efforts in Sinai.

As part of his visit, the Chief of Staff shared meals with the soldiers, reviewed the maintenance of weapons, equipment, and vehicles, and observed nighttime training exercises.

The inspection was attended by the Commander of East Canal Counter-Terrorism Forces, the Commander of the Second Field Army, and other Armed Forces leaders.
