People looking for survivors after a collision involving a bus, a transport truck, and a taxi on the new Matariya-Port Said road. Al-Ahram.
The Port Said Security Directorate said it received a report of the accident, and police officers and ambulances promptly rushed to the scene.
Upon their arrival, it was confirmed that a bus collided with a transport truck and a taxi, resulting in 12 fatalities and five injuries.
The victims were transported to different hospitals in Port Said.
Al-Zohour Hospital received four bodies, Al-Nasr Specialized Hospital received six, and the 30th of June Hospital in south Port Said received two bodies and five injured victims.
First aid and medical care are being provided to the injured. The deceased were placed in a morgue under the Public Prosecution's authority, pending investigations and the completion of necessary legal procedures.
An official report has been filed, and the Public Prosecution has been notified to begin investigations.
Egypt recorded 5,861 road accident fatalities in 2023, a decrease from 7,762 in 2022.
However, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the number of injuries rose from 55,991 to 71,016 during the same period.
The government is implementing a national plan to expand and upgrade road networks and enhance road safety measures to reduce accidents.
